Class Description

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering degree program has a two-part objective. The first is to provide students with a strong background in mathematics, physics, and engineering science. The curriculum includes courses in digital systems, embedded systems; integrated circuits design, including operating systems and software engineering.
The second objective is to provide students with the skills necessary to be effective contributors in a quality-oriented, customer-focused environment. Courses throughout the program, especially those in the junior and senior years, emphasize an open-ended, design-oriented approach to solving engineering problems.
Teamwork, communication skills, and an interdisciplinary approach to problem solving are integrated into the senior, computer engineering design courses.

The goal of the Computer Engineering Technology program is to provide students with a high quality applications oriented undergraduate education based on the art of technology as a preparation for productive employment and its applications and industry. This goal is achieved through continual updating of course content to ensure relevance to the latest industrial changes, supporting the development of appropriate computer facilities, promoting the integration of advanced computer technology in all courses, and encouraging professional growth and development of the faculty. The program is designed to satisfy the educational needs of the global community by providing a climate that fosters self-awareness, personal growth, and a desire for life-long learning. With computers assisting nearly every professional and leisure activity of modern life, people who can design, install, configure, network, and repair microcomputer systems can make a valuable contribution to business and industry. People familiar with both the hardware and software requirements of computers are especially valuable. Computer Engineering Technology majors study the application of the art of technology components and software in contemporary computer systems. Students are given a solid foundation in mathematics, basic sciences, and electronics. Graduates of Computer Engineering Technology are qualified for immediate employment in a variety of industries as sales representatives, field specialists, interface designers, software specialists, and digital applications specialists. Graduates may work as team members in computer service, marketing, system administration or design. Many positions require contact with customers, members of other computer professions, engineers and/or scientific personnel on a regular basis.

The BSC in Computer Science program in information technology requires a mini-thesis which enables the student to perfect his knowledge and skills. The BSC in Computer Science Program provides a rigorous foundation in both the theoretical and practical aspects of computing. Core computer science courses provide the students with an intensive background in writing complex software systems and in the design and interconnection of computers. Electives are available from various areas in computer science – including multimedia, BSC and software engineering, networks and wireless systems, web-based systems, computer engineering, and computational science. These are designed so that the students can either take courses from several areas or specialize in a particular area.
